What are your summer music plans?

There are a lot of great summer music festivals in Alberta–and across Canada. Maybe you took in The Northcountry Fair at the end of June. Maybe you’re planning to go to Pembina River Nights at Rangeton Park this weekend or Wild Mountain Music Festival at Entrance Ranch next weekend or the Edmonton Folk Festival at the beginning of August.

TakeĀ a minute or two and share your summer music plans. Is there a festival you attend every year? Why is it your favourite?

Tell us what’s on your calendar or reflect back on the highlights of a festival you’ve already seen.

We travelled to Hinton on June 30th to attend the Hinton Fohn Festival. It’s a 2 day celebration held in conjunction with Canada Day. There were a variety of food tents set up where you could sample food from many different cultures.
The performance stage gave many local artists and out of towners a chance to share their talents with us. My favorite act was Edsonite, Taryn Buoy. It was her professional singing debut and we’re all very proud of her. Rumour has it I might be a little biased, but I’m allowed.
This next one is a little farther away, but well worth the trip if you can make it—Park City Utah. We took in the musical Chicago at the intimate Egyptian Theatre and explored the numerous art galleries lining Main Street. Food and hiking opportunities are exceptional too!
Finally, I think Matricia Brown’s group is singing at the new pavillion in Edson on Sunday (July 22 if I heard correctly), so that’s going to be a must attend for everyone.

Thank you for your comment, Dianne. Just to clarify, Matricia and La Vocabella are performing at Play in the Park tomorrow: July 15.
